I’m known as Ruby but also, as Mrs Beaconsfield, because I’ve sold and resold so many properties along the beachfront and I know every one of those properties intimately. This is only part of my domain. I’ve sold all over Melbourne – houses, apartments, land, even a church, in the thirty odd years that I’ve been in the industry. My motto is dedication and determination, combined with empathy and professionalism – nothing is too big or too small to receive my total effort and the best results for my vendor. My war cry is “bring your cheque book!” (though cheque books are now sadly becoming passé!). I work for my vendor to achieve the best results possible.
One of the favourite aspects of my work is “match making” - introducing people to the right homes and also, meeting clients who are the grown children of past clients. I have sixteen grandchildren myself and family is most important to me so I truly empathise with my clients and their needs. I grew up in St Kilda and have always felt a part of this dynamic, unique neighbourhood. I love meeting the diverse range of people that I come across. It is always stimulating and challenging. I also make the most of the café culture of St Kilda, sitting outside Rococo or elsewhere and being greeted by vast numbers of friends and acquaintances that I’ve made over the decades. This neighbourhood is my other family!
